Commissions

Current Status: Available for commission

Stephanie is currently available for professional commissions for various services. Private commissions are taken on a case-by-case basis.

From the inception of the project to its completion (and beyond!), Stephanie is dedicated to providing high quality work, as well as professional and prompt communication to ensure that you get as close to what you are looking for as possible.

Please contact Stephanie for pricing and information.

Process and Terms

Before beginning your project, we'll discuss your requirements by email. This is a great time to show some examples of what you're looking for. After clarifying the details, I'll give you an estimated quote for the completion of the artwork. Depending on the project, you may be charged a flat fee or an hourly rate. Generally, however, you will be quoted a flat rate - with stipulations for a certain number of revisions/alterations before requiring more payment.

A deposit of 25% of the total commission cost is required before I start work. This is non-refundable and will cover all the work in developing your concept or idea.

Next, I'll send you some thumbnails/sketches. These will be pretty basic, just ideas for pose and placement. At this stage, don't be afraid to tell me you don't like something! This is the time to change it.

Once pose and placement are to your liking, some rough colors schemes will be presented to you for your approval (I will likely provide several for you to choose from).

Once you are happy with the sketches and color, the remaining balance of your payment is due. Once I receive it, I'll begin work to complete the illustration or project. You will be kept up to date with the progress of your project. I am committed to prompt and thorough communication through all stages of the work.

I'll send a file of your finished work for your approval. At this stage, anything deemed more than a minor change will incur additional fees. Once it's complete, I'll send you the artwork or project in your preferred format.

Exclusivity and Rights

This will also vary per project and per your desire. Unless otherwise specified, I keep all rights to any artwork I create. If you'd like rights to print, sell, display, etc. your commissioned artwork, we can negotiate a contract and usage fees.

Of course, certain professional projects, such as concept art or paintings for a CCG or RPG company, require not only exclusivity but privacy. I'm more than happy to work out such conditions beforehand.

Medium and Format

My work is done digitally, in either Adobe Photoshop or Corel Painter. The format of the commission will depend upon what it's being used for, but I can provide it in almost any format desired. JPEG (JPG), PNG, PSD, PDF, etc.

Most of my work is done at 300 dpi, and the resolution will be to your specification. For example, if you're looking for a book cover and need a specific size and format, most publishing platforms have templates available that you can use to ensure it's the correct size, any possible bleed is taken care of, etc. Either you can provide these specifications or templates, or if it's for a publisher like CreateSpace, I can download them at your request.

If this commission is for a website, your best bet is to create a temporary FTP account and I can upload everything myself. Otherwise, I can provide files and instructions for you to do it yourself.

Timeframe and Rush Work

I am available for rush work, although obviously the price will reflect the need for urgency.

For the portrait of General Petraeus, I was given 3 days to finish it before his Farewell Ceremony, and I was able to do so and still keep the level of detail that is an integral part of my work.

Generally, however, my illustrations take a week or two to create, from start (thumbnails/sketches) to finish (you receiving your project).
